COUN 636 - Theory and Practice of Multicultural Counseling Credit(s): 3 hours This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive study of the skills, techniques, and information necessary to facilitate a counseling process in a cross-cultural counseling relationship. Students will be encouraged to develop self-awareness of their own cultural biases as well as awareness of many other cultures. Special attention will be given to dimensions of culture, ethnicity, lifestyle, religion, socioeconomic status, and gender issues and how those factors affect the counseling relationship and the choice of treatment processes.
