MSAI 633 - Ethics in Artificial Intelligence

This course guides students to an understanding of the ethical implications of AI technologies across various domains, including healthcare, finance, autonomous vehicles, social media, and more. Using a variety of learning modalities, students will critically examine the ethical dimensions of AI and develop a robust framework for responsible AI innovation.

Learning Objectives:

•Identify and classify key ethical challenges and dilemmas that arise in the design, development, and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.

•Apply established ethical frameworks and guidelines to assess and guide the ethical decision-making process in various AI contexts.

•Critically evaluate the presence of bias in AI algorithms and propose strategies to address bias for fair and equitable outcomes.

•Analyze the societal impact of AI, considering ethical considerations related to employment, privacy, and the broader well-being of individuals and communities.

•Understand the accountability and responsibility of AI creators, developers, and users in instances of AI-related incidents, and propose strategies for mitigating risks

.• Participate in informed discussions on AI ethics, articulating complex ethical concepts clearly and constructively to contribute to the responsible advancement of AI technologies
