The Leadership Certificate (Tier II) is a twelve (12) credit hour doctoral-level online certificate program designed to equip students with advanced leadership skills such as strategic planning, team management, effective communication, and problem-solving. Combined with a deepened professional knowledge, students will strengthen their commitment to professional service and ethical decision-making.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learners will be able to critically assess how national, regional, and local cultural and social factors impact educational policy-making and political decisions. This includes understanding the interplay between societal norms and political processes in shaping educational systems.
- Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of power and leadership within educational institutions. This includes contrasting different leadership models and their effectiveness in addressing the diverse ethnic and political backgrounds of adult learners, as well as their varying levels of commitment and competence.
- Learners will be able to apply theories of adult learning and leadership principles to real-world scenarios, either within their own institution or an approved educational setting. This involves designing and implementing initiatives that are informed by these theories and principles.
- Learner will develop the ability to critically analyze and synthesize various learning and leadership models, focusing on their effectiveness in managing change and individual behaviors. This includes understanding how different groups and individuals respond to change initiatives and the role of strategic leadership in navigating these challenges.
- Learners will be adept at analyzing and developing strategies for achieving consensus in change procedures. This outcome involves a deep understanding of the literature on strategic leadership and the capacity to address everyday challenges faced by leaders in organizational contexts.
Successful completion of the program provides the education needed to understand how the basic components of leadership can be applied and implemented in the business, government and non-profit organizations. Graduates of the program will also be eligible for admission to the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership or Ph.D. in Leadership Studies programs upon completing an application and submitting all required documentation.
Admission Requirements: A minimum graduate cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required to be admitted to the Leadership Certificate (Tier II) Program.
