SOWK 437 - Mental Health Perspectives in Social Work


Credit: 3 hours
This course is designed to address specialized mental health issues related to individuals and families. The course will introduce mental health diagnoses and how those disorders affect the everyday lives of the individuals with the disorder as well as those around them. Students will be instructed on how to intervene on a range of different levels and in different settings with clients. The social work perspective on values and skills used in mental health will be taught. This course will emphasize the main concept that the most effective change occurs when a problem is addressed on a micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
