NURS 110 - Introduction to Nursing


Credits: 3 hours
During this didactic portion of this course the student nurse will be introduced to the nursing process, Quality and Safety for Nurses (QSEN Initiative, incorporating patient centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence based practice, safety, quality improvement, informatics, the nursing process, and categories of patient needs,) and technical procedures. The course introduces the collection and organization of client/patient data related to nursing care responsibilities. During the application portion of the course the student will perform nursing skills and function within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurse. Students will participate in 60 clock hours of simulation lab training and must successfully pass a skills checkoff to be given a satisfactory grade for the laboratory portion of the course. This course is a pre-requisite to the nursing program. This course is two theory/lecture hours and 7.5 laboratory hours per week for 8 weeks
