SPAN 491 - Cultural Immersion in Spanish Credits: 1-6 hours This course is for students who pursue linguistic and cultural immersion experiences other than study abroad, including but not limited to mission work in the Spanish-speaking cultures. The course may be repeated once, for up to six hours total, provided the topics and experiences vary. Students must have the course approved prior to departure; they must maintain regular communication with the supervising instructor; they must provide documentation of their participation from their on-site supervisor, program director, or equivalent (a one-page letter will suffice); and they must make an oral or written presentation of their experience, in Spanish, upon their return. Credit will be determined based on contact hours with the target language and culture (125 contact hours = 3 credit hours). Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing or above and department chair approval
