Hutton School of Business
Purpose Statement
The mission of the Hutton School of Business is to foster academic excellence and student achievement at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students are provided with a strong academic foundation in business, and are prepared to become productive, competent, and ethical professionals. The Hutton School of Business provides a learning environment that is characterized by student-oriented instructional methodologies and the development of leadership and life-long learning skills in its students.
Program Goals
At the Hutton School of Business, the following broad-based goals for students have been developed:
- Students will acquire the relevant disciplinary knowledge and competencies appropriate to their program of study.
- Students will acquire effective business-related professional skills.
- Students will be challenged to assess their personal values and connect them to ethical behaviors appropriate to their intended endeavors.
- Students will be able to apply the major concepts in the functional areas of accounting, finance, marketing, and management.
- Students will be able to evaluate the global legal, social, and economic environments of business.
- Students will be able to examine the ethical obligations and responsibilities of the business decision-maker and the business.
- Students will be able to apply decision-support tools and resources to problem solving and business decision-making.
- Students will be able to demonstrate professional business communication skills.
- Students will be able to demonstrate effective teamwork skills.
- Students will be able to appraise their individual leadership abilities and limitations.

Purpose Statement
The Communication Arts program provides students from all disciplines with the opportunity and training to improve their verbal and written communication skills. Students gain an appreciation of cultural heritage as it is revealed through the study of traditional and contemporary communication texts, including written and spoken discourse, literature, film, television, music, and advertising. Students learn to become effective and ethically responsible communicators, who can design, express, interpret and evaluate functional messages in a variety of contexts, including personal, social, political, religious and organizational settings.
Program Goals
- Develop Foundational Communication Skills - Students will demonstrate proficiency in verbal, written, and visual communication, applying principles from public speaking, graphic design, video production, and small group communication to effectively convey messages across diverse media platforms.
- Master Industry-Specific Knowledge and Ethics - Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of communication law and ethics, ensuring responsible and ethical media practices.
- Enhance Digital and Social Media Competencies - Students will develop expertise in emerging digital communication technologies, preparing them for careers in the evolving media landscape.
- Apply Strategic Communication in Specialized Fields - Students will integrate strategic messaging and gain skills specific to their chosen emphasis area(s).
- Engage in Practical and Professional Experiences - Students will apply their knowledge through opportunities such as hands-on projects, industry certifications, simulations, internships, and a capstone experience.

Purpose Statement
The purpose of the School of Computer and Information Sciences is to provide instructional programs that focus on the computer and information sciences and prepare individuals for various occupations in information technology and computer operations fields.
Program Goals
- To equip students, through a high quality and highly affordable education, with the knowledge and skills needed to create professional information systems solutions.
- To create scholars who bear the proper information systems tools and concepts that nurture critical thinkers toward a life-more-abundant.
- To develop leaders who serve government, industry, and academia by applying their newfound knowledge in an ethically sound manner.
- To provide higher education services grounded in Christian principles and values while incorporating cutting-edge technologies that prepare students to enter, or grow within, the technology professions.
- To enhance and promote critical and creative thinking as essential skills within information sciences, and life itself, through problem determination, analysis, and solution implementation.
- To impart the tools and knowledge of academic research thereby encouraging students to critically evaluate, investigate, and synthesize hypotheses as a means to link scholarly research to practical results.
