CES 737 - Trauma Counseling: Etiology, Treatment, and Interventions


Credit(s): 3 hours
This is an online course that will provide an overview of trauma counseling, treatment, and interventions. It will cover topics including neuroscience of trauma, trauma and related assessments, psychopharmacology, and treatment for various populations and trauma histories. Additionally, it will address significant research findings related to the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES) and comorbid diagnoses. This course will require students to engage in a weekly class meetings and discussions in an online format. Students will need to be a licensed counselor, doctoral student, or a master’s student. Prerequisites include a master’s level course in counseling theory, ethics, and techniques.
