NURS 112 - Fundamental Nursing I Credits: 3 hours During this didactic portion of this course the student nurse will be apply the nursing process, Quality and Safety for Nurses (QSEN Initiative, incorporating patient centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence based practice, safety, quality improvement, informatics, the nursing process, and categories of patient needs,) and technical procedures. Students will also learn basic information about the family unit and family dynamics, problems that may occur within the family, and basic gerontologic concepts related to care of the aging client. During the application portion of the course the student will perform nursing skills and function within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurse. Students will participate in 120 clock hours of supervised clinical and must be given a satisfactory grade for the clinical portion of the course. This course is one theory/lecture hour and 15 clinical application hours per week for 8 weeks. Prerequisite(s): Completion of NURS 110 with a grade of “C” or better and Admission to the Nursing program
